SOULCALIBUR App Reviews

My favorite app

This port is so ridiculously fun. The controls are well done and I can almost play this game as good as I can on dreamcast. The only downside to that is that button combos not preassigned to a button are impossible, and you can only have 2. But I forgive it because this is literally the only game I play on my phone. Only bugs are that if you play for a long period of time, the voices disappear. Other than that, I wish they brought the gallery and the other modes to make it feel more like the original release. As it stands, its an exceptional port of one of my favorite fighting games, and I wish so badly that more people would see that as this app is extremely underrated for its quality and replay-ability. Its definitely worth the purchase.

Still easily best fighting game for iOS!

I forgot how great this iOS port was until I played it today after sometime on my iPad Air 2. It begs the question why havent there been more ports like this for iOS in general? i suspect lawyers and licensing stop it all from happening. anyways, looks and runs even better than I remember it on Dreamcast and while yeah touch controls take some geting used to I found them more accurate after a bit due to the directional being so clear. If you like fighting games this is all you need for iOS. Its been out for ages as well. Ive had no issues under current version of iOS 8.

Blue tooth vs play

Does not work, with wifi off, blue tooth on and no other blue tooth devices in the area for iPhone 6 and 6 plus.

Cant do v.s battles

Great game but the v.s battle part of the game wont allow any other blue tooth devices connect to any of my friends, even though we want to play together. We have iPhone 6s

iPhone 6 plus

Great game. Full screen on iPhone 6 plus is a big plus!!! I used to play this game on my Sega Dreamcast way back. So for those that read the ( does not work on iOS 8) I am telling you it does!!! I am running iOS 8.4 on iPhone 6 plus with no lag no problems. May developers should update that so ppl would buy instead of passing

Absolutely fantastic port

Im a huge fighting game fan and Soul Calibur II was one of my fave fighting games on the Game Cube. That being said I never played the first on Dreamcast so this is a great treat. I downloaded it seeing the great reviews but still wondered if it moved smoothly. Well Im pleased to say that literally runs like youre playing it on a console. With that said my only complaint is that moves that involve pressing A+B or A+K are basically impossible to pull off unless youre using two fingers. Makes using some of Takis awesome combos no fun. Other than that everything is running great.

False Advertising.

It’s fine. A large part of why I got this game was to connect and fight with other players. But the game has no way of connecting to the bluetooth it seems. My bluetooth connection is fine with anything else. False advertising. A complete waste of a feature.

SMH! No controller support & its 2016?

This has got to be the silliest company. Online multiplayer & controller support still not added?! These options in this game would probably further enhance digital sales for Namco - but they do silly stuff like this, so oh well, lose out I suppose. I can see people broadcasting on twitch or YouTube red increasing the popularity. This is the best fighting game imo on iOS. Again, what a silly company. Not updating this gem. Or just release SC2 HDO for iOS 6th gen and up.

Mr. Memphis

This is an unbelievably good port. The music and graphics are fantastic but what makes this game shine are the controls. Players have the options to customize the controls and change the locations of the buttons. The makes it easier to take into consideration different sized hands for comfortable playing. In addition the buttons can be overlapped for easy two button or three button inputs. While the controls take a little getting used once a player has found a set up they like they can do anything. To put things into perspective I can perform Summon Suffering in this game with little difficulty. A fantastic game overall, I hope Namco makes more like it.

Wish more fighting games on iOS were like this

The game is great and the virtual buttons work well. I just wish more fighting games would take this example instead of using swipe controls.

Works well on 6s Plus with iOS 9

Ive played this on both my iPhone 5 on iOS 8 and now on my 6s Plus on iOS 9. The game runs well and still looks great on my phone.
